Embattled Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Abuja-based lawyer, Victor Giwa was nabbed by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos on Friday, following a bench warrant issued by Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Apo.
The warrant, slapped on Giwa and Ibitade Bukola on Monday, came after they dodged their court date for charges of forgery and impersonation.
The Inspector General of Police, in a charge marked CR/150/25, accused Giwa and Bukola of cooking up a fake letter on June 28, 2024, using the letterhead of Awa U. Kalu, SAN.
The forged document was allegedly meant to deceive the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) by requesting a halt to a scheduled arraignment.
Giwa is currently cooling his heels at the Zone II Police Headquarters in Lagos and will be moved to Abuja on Monday to face the music.
Justice Onwuegbuzie issued the warrant after rejecting Giwa’s medical excuse, which didn’t prove he couldn’t show up in court, while Bukola didn’t even bother submitting any document.
