Nigeria's Super Eagles have whooped Gabon 4 -1 in the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup play-offs for Africa, yesterday, Thursday, November 13, 2025.
A goalless first half gingered striker Akor Adams to break the deadlock in the 78th minute to net in a goal.
Gabon's Mario Lemina scored late with an equalizer that saw the scoreline settling at 1-1 in the 89th minute at full time.
Chidera Ejuke restored the lead for Nigeria in the first half of extra time before Victor Osimhen ensured a two-goal cushion in the 102nd minute to put them way ahead of Gabon still wallowing in the defeat.
The striker who plays for Galatasaray later topped it with another goal to complete his brace five minutes into the second stanza to the excitement of his teeming Nigerian audience.
The Super Eagles will take on either DR Congo or Cameroon in the finals on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
The overall winner will make a headway to the inter-confederation play-offs in March 2026 in a strong bid to qualify for the World Cup finals in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
