Build Yourself First Before Expecting To Marry Rich – Actor Uzor Arukwe Tells Single Ladies

Popular Nollywood actor, Uzor Arukwe, has advised single ladies to take self-development seriously and ensure that they are established in their own capacities before hoping to marry a rich and caring man.

He gave the advice while reacting to the praises the character of Odogwu, a caring billionaire lover which he played in the movie Love In Every World 2, is receiving on social media from people who declared the character as their ideal man.

He noted that the character of Chioma, the lover of the billionaire played by Bambam, was already a valuable woman before the billionaire began supporting her.

The actor explained that the billionaire didn’t need to ask his woman what her contributions to their marriage would be because it was clear she was an industrious woman.

Arukwe urged ladies to build value for themselves first, and valuable men would naturally locate them.

On his X handle, he wrote, “While we are basking in our delulu, it’s important to remember that Odogwu saw Chioma as a valuable woman before throwing his full weight to support her. He didn’t even need to ask what she brings to the table because it was clear she’s an industrious woman. So as a woman, build value for yourself first, and your Odogwu will locate you to become your helpmate that makes everything easier to handle.”

Rapper Erigga Says Nigerians Prefer Foreign Artistes Over Local Talent

Nigerian rapper and singer, Erigga, has said that Nigerians tend to prioritize foreign artistes over local talent in what appears to be frustrating him..

He said: “Nigerians have this attitude when it comes to our own; we don’t regard our own. The average Nigerian prefers to show you 300 people wey dey dance for London than to show you 5,000 people attending a concert in Nigeria.

“I feel like music should be for everyone. Regardless of where you are, you should appreciate your own because they (London) appreciate their own. We have this disconnect issue; we prefer what is outside.

“Sometimes people be like, ‘Erigga, do one English rap for me,’ and I’m like, shey me na English professor? I dey educate people wey I meet for street."

Actress Efe Irele Urges Filmmakers To Combine Entertainment With Storytelling

Actress Efe Irele Urges Filmmakers To Combine Entertainment With Storytelling

Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Efe Irele, has emphasized the need for balance in the Nigerian movie industry, urging producers to create films that are both commercially successful and emotionally compelling.

Speaking in an interview with Saturday Beats, Irele commended the progress of Nigerian filmmakers but noted that financial sustainability remains crucial for continued growth.

“I must commend a lot of filmmakers right now; we’re all pushing the bar higher. We definitely need more emotionally driven stories, but we also can’t dismiss those who focus on commercial success. At the end of the day, the industry has to generate money to keep going,” she said.

According to her, the shift in audience behavior due to streaming platforms has changed how filmmakers approach storytelling.

Irele pointed out that attracting cinema audiences now requires offering entertainment that’s worth leaving the comfort of home for.

“Not everyone wants to go to the cinemas anymore, especially with streaming taking over. We have to make movies that make people laugh, unwind, and enjoy themselves, because that’s what a lot of viewers are looking for,” she noted.

However, Irele also stressed that filmmakers must not lose sight of stories that evoke deep emotions and provoke thought, as these narratives help preserve the soul of the craft.

Actor Williams Uchemba Calls For Public Execution Of Kidnappers To Curb Rising Insecurity

Nollywood actor Williams Uchemba has called on the Nigerian government to enforce public executions for convicted kidnappers, saying that visible and decisive punishment is the only way to deter the rising wave of abductions across the country.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, Uchemba expressed frustration over what he described as the government’s failure to enforce existing laws on capital punishment.

According to him, the absence of strict consequences emboldens criminals to continue their acts with impunity.

The actor also cited China as an example, noting that the Asian nation maintains the death penalty for serious crimes such as kidnapping and corruption, a policy he believes has contributed to its low crime rate.

“The capital punishment for kidnapping is death, yet Ehen offenders are arrested we hardly hear what happens afterwards.

“If you ask me, there should even be a dedicated TV channel showing the arrest and public execution of convicted kidnappers. Until real consequences are enforced, nothing will change.” Uchemba said.

Uchemba’s comments come amid an alarming rise in kidnapping incidents across Nigeria, particularly as the festive season approaches.

The period is often associated with increased criminal activity.

The actor urged the authorities to act decisively, insisting that firm and public enforcement of justice would serve as a deterrent and restore public confidence in the system.
