Singer Tiwa Savage Debunks Sabotaging Female Colleagues

Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage has debunked allegations of sabotaging other female artists in the music industry.

She challenged those accusing her of sabotaging her colleagues to mention their sources and come forward with evidence.

Recall that a few years ago Kenyan singer, Victoria Kimani, accused Tiwa Savage of indirectly blocking her from performing at several shows.

Reacting in a recent episode of the Offair Show, Tiwa Savage explained that she was being wrongly accused of sabotaging the chances of other female artistes to get bookings, claiming that show promoters could be lying to other artists using her name.

“If you’ve heard from anybody that I tried to block your bag, mention names. Maybe the promoters are lying and using me, maybe they don’t want to book three, four girls. So, they claim I am the one blocking others,” Savage said.

Rapper Erigga Reveals Why He Can't Quit Music


Nigerian rapper Erhiga Agarivbie, popularly known as Erigga, has revealed that he can’t quit music, stressing that he is doing it for passion and not for social/financial gains.

He said: “Every year, people leave music for real-life issues. But I can’t stop. Music is life. It’s what keeps me going. Take the business and everything out of it, it’s more of a passion. I can’t disappoint my fans."

Musician 9ice Reveals Plans To Get A Tribal Mark At 50 Years Of Age



Nigerian musician, Abolore Adegbola Akande, popularly known as 9ice, has revealed plans to get a tribal mark at 50.

The 45-year-old disclosed this in a video broadcast via his TikTok page recently.

The Ogbomosho-born singer said he would be getting the tribal mark in honour of his dad, who has the same mark.

“By the time I’m 50, I will get the same mark as my dad. That’s what I want to do for my birthday. A lot of my boys said I won’t do that, but, you will see,” he stated.

9ice is known for his powerful use of the Yoruba language in his music and his proverbial lyrics and unique style of delivery.

He gained prominence with his hit track ‘Gongo Aso’ in 2008. Since then, he has released several albums and hit singles.

In an interview with Nancy Isime in August 2025, 9ice disclosed that he is a traditional worshiper.

He narrated how he became a heathen after someone referred him to an Ifa priest when he was battling with a “spiritual attack” that made him vomit blood for six months.

The singer stated that after getting healed, he regretted not becoming a traditionalist earlier on.

Singer Omah Lay Claims That The Nigerian Music Industry Is Becoming Boring











Afrobeats singer, Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has claimed that the Nigerian music industry is becoming boring.


The ‘Soso’ hitmaker promised to spice up African music soon.


On his Snapchat, Omah Lay wrote, “Una music industry is boring AF! Spirit is coming to f**k up the continent in a bit.”


This is coming after another Nigerian singer, Slimcase, expressed concern over the country’s music industry, claiming that Afrobeats artists’ sounds were becoming boring.


The Shaku Shaku crooner urged Afrobeats to release less music in order to bid excitements and anticipation for their releases.


He claimed that the constant release of songs among the Afrobeat stars was “killing” the genre.

University Of Ibadan Emerges Nigeria’s Best University For 2026




The University of Ibadan (UI) has reclaimed its position as Nigeria’s best university in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, emerging ahead of 50 other Nigerian institutions.


According to the ranking, published on Thursday, October 9, UI now sits within the 801–1000 global band, a major improvement from its fourth-place position in 2025. The prestigious Ibadan-based federal university last held the top spot in 2023.


 THE assessed 2,191 institutions from 115 countries, using 18 performance indicators across five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.


UI’s resurgence dethroned Covenant University (CU), which had been ranked Nigeria’s best in 2024 and 2025. Following UI in the 2026 rankings are the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Bayero University, Kano (BUK), and Covenant University, ranked second, third, and fourth respectively.


 The report revealed a global reshuffle in higher education performance, drawing from 174.9 million citations across 18.7 million research publications and survey responses from over 108,000 scholars worldwide.


Among Nigerian universities, UNILAG ranked highest for research quality, scoring 66.7, while BUK led in international outlook. Covenant University achieved the top industry score, reflecting strong links with the private sector.


 Out of the 51 Nigerian institutions featured, only UI and UNILAG fall within the 801–1000 range globally. BUK, Covenant University, and Landmark University placed between 1001–1200, while five others — Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMinna), University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), University of Jos (UNIJOS), and University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) — ranked between 1201–1500.


A further 14 Nigerian universities were placed above 1501, while 27 institutions were listed but not ranked.

THE noted that for a university to qualify, it must teach undergraduates, conduct multidisciplinary research, and have published at least 1,000 research papers between 2020 and 2024 (a minimum of 100 annually).

Update: Police Arrest 12 Suspects Involved In Death Of Arise TV Presenter Somtochukwu Maduagwu




The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has confirmed the arrest of 12 suspects involved in the armed robbery incident that led to the death of Arise TV presenter, Somtochukwu Maduagwu.


According to the police, the suspects are: Shamsudeen Hassan ‘m’ from Katsina State, Hassan Isah ‘m’, 22 years from Kaduna, Abubakar Alkamu a.k.a. abba ‘m’, 27 years from Katsina, Sani Sirajo a.k.a. dan borume ‘m’ 20 years from Katsina, Mashkur Jamilu a.k.a. abba ‘m’ 28 years from Kaduna and Suleiman Badamasi a.k.a. dan-sule ‘m’ 21 years from Katsina.


Others are Abdul Salam saleh a.k.a. na-durudu ‘m’ from Katsina, Zaharadeen Muhammad a.k.a. gwaska ‘m’ 23 years from Kaduna, Musa adamu a.k.a. musa hassan ‘m’ 30 years from Katsina, Sumayya Mohammed a.k.a. baby ‘m’ 27 years from Kaduna, Isah Abdulrahman a.k.a. abbati ‘m’, 25 years from Kaduna and Musa Umar a.k.a. small ‘m’ 31 years from Borno.


The police added that shortly after the robbery incident, four (4) of the suspects Shamsudeen Hassan, Alkamu, Sirajo and one other person were apprehended through the tracking of phones stollen from the apartment during the robbery.


“During interrogation, Shamsudeen Hassan confessed that he shot the security guard when he attempted to prevent them from gaining access to the apartment,” the statement read. 


The police added that shortly after the robbery incident, four (4) of the suspects Shamsudeen Hassan, Alkamu, Sirajo and one other person were apprehended through the tracking of phones stollen from the apartment during the robbery.


“During interrogation, Shamsudeen Hassan confessed that he shot the security guard when he attempted to prevent them from gaining access to the apartment,” the statement read.


“Sani Sirajo confessed to have tried to hold Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu from falling off the three-storey building but was overwhelmed by her weight.


“Shamsudeen further confessed that he drove the white honda CR-V jeep out of the apartment after the operation. The four suspects admitted that they each received ₦200,000 from the proceeds of the crime.”


Recovered exhibits include: One fabricated ak-47 rifle, 36 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, one locally made pistol, one pump-action gun, two live cartridges, four mobile phones of the victims, two sharp knives, one cutlass and nine torchlights used during the operation.


The police said: “In continuation of investigations, yesterday, 08/10/2025, acting on a tip-off and actionable digital intelligence also provided by us, the remaining members of the gang, Musa umar a.k.a. small, Hassan Isah and other accomplices involved in the Gishiri robbery were intercepted while enroute to an already planned armed robbery operation scheduled to hold at maitama in the early hours of this morning.”


According to the statement, all suspects have confessed to the crimes while investigation is ongoing.

I Gave Up On Acting Because Of S#x-For-Role Calls – Director Pink




Nigerian music video director, Praise Onyeagwalam, popularly known as Director Pink, has revealed why she gave up on pursuing her acting career.


The award-winning cinematographer explained that the humiliation and s#xual exploitation of aspiring actors made her quit that career path.


In a recent interview with Hip TV, Director Pink said the humiliation of standing on long queues at movie auditions and shady calls from male filmmakers inviting her to compromising locations, made her switch career to become her own boss.


“I wanted to be an actress but the humiliation was too much. Long queues, shady ‘come to this location’ calls. I said ‘No.’ That’s when I chose to be my own boss,” she said.


Director Pink added that being a music video director is also challenging, but she is willing to make sacrifices for the career.


She urged upcoming music video directors to be patient and embrace delayed gratification, stressing that it took those at the peak years to achieve their current status.
