Singer Seun Kuti Says It's An Insult To Call Wizkid 'New Fela'
Seun Kuti, a Grammy-nominated singer and son of the late Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, has said it is an insult to refer to Afrobeats singer Wizkid as the modern day equivalent of his father.
Kuti stated this while warning Wizkid fans, otherwise known as Wizkid FC, to stop comparing the Ojuelegba crooner with the late Afrobeat maestro during a recent Instagram livestream.
He explained that comparing Wizkid or any new generational artist to Fela is an insult to the legacy of the Afrobeat pioneer.
“Wizkid FC keep Fela’s name out of your mouths. You try to claim that your fake artiste is the new Fela. Then when you people saw that the shoes were to big to fill and people like me also did not allow you to get away with those insults… It is actually an insult [to compare Wizkid to Fela].
“You people have no respect. I like it when people don’t have respect as a form of defiance. If your lack of respect came from a place of defiance, I will respect it. But your lack of respect came from a place of ignorance…
“Wizkid fans are online disrespecting Fela again. Why must you always involve Fela in your petty discussions? The overzealousnes of some of fans has significantly affected the music industry negatively. Some artists can’t even collaborate because of fan rivalries.
“I think Wizkid FC is the most ignorant fanbase in the world… You need to stop misbehaving. Concentrate on your artist. Can’t you enjoy their music without comparing it to something else? Do you know why you cannot enjoy your artist’s music without comparing it to something else? It is because the music does not fill your spirit. You can pretend to be enjoying it, but spiritually, you are not satisfied,” he expressed.

Actress Bolaji Ogunmola Threatens To Sue Airline Over Flight Delays And Cancellation In Ekiti
Popular Nollywood actress, Bolaji Ogunmola, has called out the United Nigeria Airline for cancellation of her flight twice in two days.
The actress who explained that she came to Ekiti State for work and was supposed to return to Lagos State for another filming on Wednesday, accused the airline of delaying her flight for two days without any communication from the airline, leaving her stranded.
Expressing her frustration, Bolaji threatened to sue the airline for toying with her time and her source of livelihood.
Speaking in a video on her Instagram page on Thursday morning, she stated “lawyer will take this up.”
” I was supposed to fly yesterday. I got to the airport and they said that something happened and that flight was delayed. I waited for hours after which they said they are not flying again that they’ve cancelled the flight.
“And I said ok, you have cancelled the flight, what’s the plan? I need to get to Lagos. They’re like ok, there’s nothing they can do. I tried Akure as well but nothing happened. So, this morning they said they are going to fly 8:am this morning and I have to pay for hotel, pay bills. And I woke up this morning by 5am and rushed to the airport by 6:30am, some people also met me here and they said oh, we’re still flying is not for 8am again is for 9:30am.
“This is very painful because you could have just sent a message because I’m working today and there was no conversation, nothing was said. They later said the 90:30 flight has been moved to 12pm, and now they said they are going to move by 5:30, and I’m supposed to be on set. As we speak, my crew production, everything are all on set. I’m going to take this up because I’m not the type to start yelling and fighting.
“I’m doing this video to have evidence of what just happened to me. And literally, I’m stuck in a State I don’t know anybody. I’m waiting for a car to come and pick me so that I can get to Lagos and I don’t know the time I’m going to get to Lagos. It’s not only my time they are toying with, it’s actually the source of my livelihood as well. I’m literally stuck and outside here, and there is no reason why that is happening. I have to go by road which is very unsafe and my lawyer will take this up. They are not remorseful, they are unfair and they don’t have any form of decency”, she said with tears.
The occurrence is coming barely a month after the commencement of commercial flight operation in Ekiti state.

Rapper Jeriq Debunks Claims Of Igbo Artists Not Supporting Each Other
Nigerian rapper, Jeremiah Chukwuebuka Ani, popularly known as Jeriq, has debunked the claims that artists of Igbo extraction in the music industry don’t support each other compared to their Yoruba counterparts...
“The narrative that Igbo people don’t help each other is a fallacy. Flavour for example, has helped a lot of artists, including several rising Igbo artists, who are now thriving in the music industry due to his co-sign.
“I am also a beneficiary of Flavour’s magnanimity. My biggest song ever in this life is ‘Oluoma.’ Who gave me the verse? Flavour. Numbers don’t lie. It’s my biggest song ever. Flavour did not collect a dime from me.
“I collaborate with other artists and they send me contract and slpit-sheeet. But Phyno and Flavour have never collected a dime from me. I have done three songs with Phyno and one hit with Flavour. They collaborated with me free of charge,” he explained.
“The way Asake is doing everything with Yoruba language, I believe that somebody will sell out a stadium either in U.S or Paris with Igbo language,” he added.
