Media Personality Toke Makinwa Claims Bathing Babies Daily Could Damage Their Skin

Media personality Toke Makinwa has advised mothers with newborns against bathing their babies daily.

According to her, bathing babies every day could potentially damage their skin.

Speaking in a video broadcast on her social media page, the actress, who recently welcomed her first child at 40, argued that babies are naturally clean, stressing that the womb they came from is not dirty.

She revealed that she doesn’t bathe her child every day and advised her fellow nursing mothers to wipe their babies instead of bathing them daily.

“I really think bathing babies actually causes problems. Babies are not dirty. They have been inside the womb for nine months. Inside the womb is not dirty.

"I don’t bathe my baby every day because it is not necessary. Babies are not on the floor; they are not dirty or sweaty. So, why are you excessively putting water on their skin? Their skin is fragile. You can wipe them instead of bathing them every day. This helped me, so I’m just putting it out there,” she expressed.

Toke Makinwa’s advice to nursing mothers has received a mixed reception online, with many questioning her experience in motherhood and her qualifications in nursing.

Rapper M.I Abaga Explains Why Some Celebrities Go Broke

Ace Nigerian rapper Jude Abaga, popularly known as M.I, has shared how he handles people’s expectations from him as a celebrity..

“When I understood that people in Nigeria tend to broke shame celebrities, I had to make a decision if I want to let that have power over me. Because if you don’t deal with that, it will have exceeding power over you.

“If you are not comfortable with the fact that some fans can broke shame you if they see you driving a car they consider below your level, then you are going to continue adjusting to their expectations. And that is how you go broke. You go broke trying to adjust to people’s expectations.

“One of the things that Nigerians are concerned about is their perceptions. And statistically, we are a country where most people don’t have money. It took me time to mentally prepare myself to accept being broke shamed. All our celebrities who were flying private jets 20 years ago are no longer affluent,” he expressed.

Singer Yemi Alade Opens Up About Being S#xually Harassed By Music Executives As A Teenager

Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has opened up about the challenges she faced during her early years as a young, struggling female artiste..

She said: “In those beginning days, all I thought I needed was just my talent because that’s what I have. I didn’t have a bank account full of money I could use to sponsor myself.

“I just had a talent and a zeal, and a promise that I made to myself and a promise I believed God made to me. So, I always tried to show up. I was told that I needed to work harder and so I worked harder, and it wasn’t enough. There were doors I needed to walk up to and when I walked up to the doors, they didn’t want my talent, they wanted something else.

“Many times from business meetings to studio sessions to even winning certain awards and you meet maybe the managing director or any other executive and they are trying to rub your thighs under the table. And I was just a teen. My grand pa is rubbing my legs and I can’t speak because I’m in shock.

“We are having an actual business meeting. Why are you rubbing my thighs? I had to speak to myself and decided if music was what I wanted to do because the s#xual harassment was becoming too rampant. But something in me told me to keep pushing my talent. So, I still showed up. If door was left open for me, I would walk in. If it was shut in my face, I would walk away.”

Popular singer, Tiwa Savage has said the demand for sex from female artistes in exchange of opportunities is one of the major challenges women face in the Nigerian music industry.

Speaking in a panel organised by Entertainment Week Africa, Savage said she has had experiences where she was told to go visit influential male executives before she could get booked for certain shows.

She also revealed that she once lost an endorsement deal for refusing to go on holiday to Dubai with the company’s co-owner.

Savage said the experience made her realise that some executives value her body more than her talent.

She said, “I had been told that if I don’t go and see ‘this chairman’ personally, I would not be put on a show. I lost an endorsement because I refused to go to Dubai with a man who is one of the owners of the company.

Breaking News: Court Sentences Separatist Leader Nnamdi Kanu To Life Imprisonment

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court has sentenced Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to life imprisonment after ten years of trial.

Justice Omotosho delivered the judgment on Thursday, four years after Kanu was arrested in Kenya under contentious circumstances and brought back to Nigeria.

He was subsequently charged with seven counts bordering on terrorism.

The judgement was delivered in Kanu’s absence after the IPOB leader insisted that the judgement would not be delivered in the terrorism charge the Federal Government entered against him.

Due to the drama that ensued, the presiding judge ordered security agents to bundle him out of the court room for ‘unruly behaviour.’

Omotosho stated that several broadcasts by Kanu, through Radio Biafra, constituted acts of terrorism, adding that his rhetoric and intention were anchored on violence.

The judge also asserted that Kanu’s sit-at-home order in South-Eastern states amounted to terrorism, stressing that the order violated South-easterners’ freedom of movement.

Justice Omotosho maintained that the IPOB leader lacked the constitutional power to order people to sit at home.

According to Justice Omotosho, from the evidence before the court, Kanu carried out preparatory terrorism via his broadcasts through which he ordered the killing of police and military officers.

The court said the IPOB leader is found guilty of committing acts of terrorism against the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Kanu was convicted of all seven counts preferred against him even though the IPOB leader pleaded non-guilty to the charges.
