Afrobeats singer, Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has expressed pride in being a Nigerian despite all odds stressing that her favourite thing about the country is the spirit of the citizens, which she claims can't be replicated by foreigners anywhere in the world..

She said: "My favourite thing about Nigeria is just the spirit of Nigerians. You can’t replicate it.

“Nobody else can be a Nigerian other than a Nigerian. Even when they are faking African accents in Hollywood movies, they never actually fake a Nigerian accent.

“They always fake East Africa and South African accents. Being a Nigerian doesn’t just come as naturally, it just feels like home.

"That is why I wish the country was better. Because I feel like no one would want to leave.”

Singer Yemi Alade Reveals Why She Quit Smoking

Popular singer, Yemi Alade has opened up about beating a short-term cigarette addiction, revealing that she got addicted to smoking as a teenager but quit because “it didn’t work out.”

“Some people say I don’t smoke, I don’t this, I don’t that. When I was in the university I tried smoking. I did not work out. But before it did not work out, it worked out a bit too much. I started needing to smoke before I go to bed. I was getting addicted to that lifestyle. But also, in public, I would hide the cigarette.

“So, I was like, ‘What’s this life; the discomfort that I can’t go to bed without smoking and then when I go out, I am going to hide the cigarette? As a teenager in the university trying to figure out life, I also made certain decisions for myself that if I’m going to hide to do something, I will not do it. Because I like to be aware of my environment and my decisions. And I just said I don’t think cigarettes are for me.

“They are not for me. And they harmed me, they affected my voice anyways. So I stopped. Smoking for me did not last up to a year,” she expressed.

President Tinubu Reacts To US Counterpart Donald Trump's Designation Of Nigeria As 'Country Of Particular Concern'

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has reacted to US colleague, Donald Trump's designation of Nigeria as a "country of particular concern" over Christian genocide claims that have continued to trend without dying with the moment. The State House released a statement saying that the characterisation of Nigeria as being religious intolerant does not reflect national reality as the government is doing everything with sincere efforts to safeguard the freedom of religion and beliefs for all Nigerians.

Recall that the US President Donald Trump had recently designated Nigeria as a 'CPC' after doing same in 2020 alleging the persecution and execution of Christians in Nigeria tantamount to a genocide. He is not the first US Politician to allege such as Senator Ted Cruz also had one or two things to say about it too.

'Once Beaten, Always Beaten’ – Actress Ngozi Nwosu Opens Up On Surviving Domestic Violence

Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has opened up about surviving domestic abuse in her former marriage, revealing that she endured physical violence even while pregnant.

Speaking on Real Life Matters With Aunty Ayo, a podcast hosted by actress Ayo Adesanya, Nwosu said she does not view marriage as a “do-or-die affair” and urged women to prioritize their safety over societal expectations.

“I don’t believe marriage is a do-or-die affair,” she said.

“There’s this notion I want to correct people go on social media to post pictures saying, ‘He slapped me, he did this, he did that.’

When you see real beating, correct pummeling, you won’t even remember social media. You’ll forget about it and start struggling for your life.”

The actress explained that she silently endured abuse in her marriage and chose not to make her struggles public at the time.

“I have not told people until now the kind of domestic violence I went through in marriage. Even when the press came after me, I told them I didn’t want to wash my dirty linen in public. It was well while it lasted, but I don’t want to talk about it,” she said.

Reflecting on her experience, Nwosu revealed that she had initially decided to walk away from her wedding because of abuse but was persuaded to stay.

“He beat me even in pregnancy, and I said this marriage is a no-no for me. My senior sister knelt down and begged me, saying he was sorry and asking what the world would say.

I agreed, but once beaten will always be beaten. If you take it once, you must be ready to take it for the rest of your life.”

She also expressed sympathy for women in similar situations, referencing the late gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu, whose death was linked to domestic violence.

“When this thing is too much, you have to move. It’s your life we are talking about here, not that person’s life,” she added.

Singer Femi Kuti Discloses Secret Of Longevity In Music Industry

Afrobeat singer, Femi Kuti, has disclosed that the secret of longevity in the music industry is making substantial music that can stand the test of time...

The interviewer asked: “What do you think is killing the Nigerian music industry now?”

Kuti replied: “When the head is not correct, nothing can be correct. I like what young artists are doing, but what would they do when they are 50?

“The reason, probably, I’m respect is, I will still show dexterity, energy. I’m committed. If I pick up my sax, you will know that this guy is working. I composed everything. You (young artists) buy your songs, and you don’t want to learn. Music is like medicine. The likes of Miles Davies, Stevie Wonder and a few others are renowned because they are working. They are practicing.

“But young artists just rush into making music to get hit songs. You might make two or three. You are young so you are not seeing the danger -the next generation will have their star and then you will fade away.

“I can proudly tell you I’m still touring. It’s because my fans will still introduce me to their children and their children’s children. So you will see very old and children at my concerts. There are people that have followed me for 15, 20 years and still bringing my albums to sign. But why? Consistency. And I have something to offer. If you are not writing your music and you are buying, and you are jumping, would you still be doing that at 40?”
