Singer Destiny Boy Dies At 22



Popular Afrobeat star, Afeez Adeshina, better known as Destiny Boy, is dead.


Destiny Boy died at the age of 22.

The news of his death was confirmed on Sunday, January 18, 2025, after a video of his lifeless body surfaced on social media.

As of the time of filling this report, the deceased body is being transported to Abeokuta in Ogun State for burial.

DAILY POST reports that the singer rose to fame in 2019 after his Fuji cover of “If” Davido’s hit song.

He announced the birth of his first child in November 2024, on his Instagram page.

Singer Seun Kuti Claims Colleague Wizkid Stole His Name




Nigerian Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, has accused singer Wizkid of stealing his nickname.

He made the claim during a recent livestream after a Wizkid’s fan urged him to change his nickname from “Big Bird” because Wizkid also bears “Biggest Bird”.

Kuti told the fan to advise Wizkid to be original, stressing that he has been answering the name long before Wizkid.

“Wizkid stole my name. Tell your fave to be original. Why are you telling me to change my name? Sorry, I can’t change it. This name has been here since. I am the first to come up with it. I am not dragging it with anybody, please,” he said.

Popular Nigerian gospel singer, Bunmi Akinnanu, best known for her hit song “Omije Ojumi,” has passed away.

The news of her death was confirmed on Tuesday evening by a close source familiar with the singer’s family.

As of now, the family has not released an official statement, though further details are expected in the coming days.

Akinnanu’s death follows months of public appeals for prayers and divine intervention as she battled a serious leg ailment.

In late 2025, a video of the singer at G.F. David Ministries in Ibadan, Oyo State, circulated online, showing her seated with her leg extended while prayers were offered for her recovery

The footage drew widespread attention and concern over the severity of her condition.

During the service, the presiding cleric revealed that Akinnanu had been experiencing persistent bleeding in her leg, prompting an intense prayer session.

The video quickly went viral, with fans and well-wishers across Nigeria organizing prayer vigils and flooding social media with messages of support.

The exact medical details of her illness were never officially disclosed.

Bunmi Akinnanu’s music journey began at the age of 10. She later left a career in banking to pursue gospel music full-time, eventually gaining prominence with “Omije Ojumi,” a song that resonated deeply with Nigerians.

Nigeria's Super Eagles Soar Past Algeria With 2-0 Win To Make A Headway To The Semis Of 2025 AFCON

The Super Eagles of Nigeria soared against all odds past Algeria with a 2-0 win to head straight to the semi-finals earlier today in Morocco. Bruno Onyemaechi's spectacular crossing to Victor Osimhen enabled him score the first goal of the match with a beautiful header in the 47th minute.
